I am an experienced and practiced professional guitarist who has owned and played every type of guitar ever manufactured.
Two days ago I received my Ed Roman / Baker guitar with Kahler tremolo bridge.
When I opened the case my mouth about hit the floor. I wasn't expecting a guitar this beautiful and this high build quality.
It reminds me of a USA Jackson Soloist in character. But it's amenable to any musical style from R&B to metal.
I have played the piece for two days straight and it is one of the greatest and most inviting guitars I have ever played.
Excellent job on creating this fabulous line of guitars, Ed.

Yesterday I received my new Baker guitar. WOW!
When I set out to research guitars I assumed I would end up with a Gibson or PRS, but along the way I ran into your website.
I learned so much from what you have posted on your site that I was able to make a knowledgeable decision.
Since I did not want to break the bank, I went with the basic Baker with a blonde top and all the standard hardware.
When I opened the case, I was amazed. What a beautiful quilted top!
I immediately plugged it in and started playing it and did not want to stop. So smooth and easy.
After about 45 minutes I picked up my Strat and started playing and it felt like a toy compared to the Baker.
I am so pleased with my decision. I never write testimonials but in this case I felt compelled to because I feel I got a fantastic guitar, well worth the money, and with all the standard gold hardware, pearl inlays, etc. it is gorgeous! I will be the envy of my fellow guitarists!
Thanks for providing beautiful alternatives to the big three “corporate” guitars.
I'm the guy who bought that blue quilted Baker last weekend for my son, As I said to you, I had been put off by some negative press on the guitar from none other than Gene Baker himself. I must confess that when I first tried the guitar out, I was only doing it to be polite, I wasn't expecting much. In fact I was contemptuous of the price. I mean how was this guitar going to be better than my PRS, My custom made Timtone & my Les Paul.
The guitar that I first picked up was the one that I bought. If you recall I tried about 6 others, I was trying to see if the one I had picked up was just a fluke. It wasn't !!!!
I have never been a collector, I'm a player and I work in 2 different bands back home in Niagara Falls. I rarely buy guitars,
I am a bit cynical to say the least about many of the newer brands. I was blown away by the selection of awesome guitars that I had never seen before.
probably buy another guitar in the not too distant future. Ed is
really doing a service for musicians. Some of those guitars I saw were
unparalleled. It makes me want to start collecting guitars.
Anyone who down-mouth's
the Baker should have his head examined. The action is
awesome, the wood is beautiful, the hardware is solid, the guitar is
stable as a rock and the tone is smooth & creamy. I did not swap
out the pickups yet, Instead I will put them in my PRS, it needs
the help and the Baker sounds great just the way it is.
I was hoping to meet
Ed "The Self Proclaimed Guitar King" I wasn't sure of what to expect,
I will make it a point to check ahead next time so that I don't miss
I purchased a Baker from you last
July. I was really pleased with the quality of this guitar. In
fact, I think the neck on this instrument far exceeds my PRS and
I would like to know which
Seymour Duncan pickup was installed in the Neck position.
The only gripe I have about this
guitar is that the neck pickup is a little bright and edgy and
want to change it out for something else. I love the the bridge
pickup. If would appreciate any data on this.
I purchased in July 2006.
Try turning down the tone knob on the front pickup, Those pickups are a special matched pair of Seymour Duncan Blackback pickups that are designed to be real creamy, brown & smooth on the neck position. The secret is to turn the tone knob all the way down.
If you try that and you aren't totally happy, I will swap out for any pickup you like for no charge.

|In 2006 Ed Roman decided to offer a
Neck Thru Body Baker Style Guitar. This guitar had to be worthy of
using his own name on it.
Ed built 8 prototypes over a 3 year period before he got the final formula exact & perfected.
Ed consulted with a number of other luthiers before the project was ready to proceed.
